A Beautiful Mess by T.K. Leigh

"Because no matter what happens, you are going to get hurt in life. But it's so much more better to have jumped into the ocean and get stung by a jellyfish than to never have felt the salt water between your toes at all."

"A Beautiful Mess", the perfect title for this book. Indeed, this story is a beautiful mess full of angst, love, betrayal, secrets and lies. T.K. Leigh takes us on a crazy roller coaster with both of the main characters emotions. I have never read a romance book like this one. This romance book is full of action and suspense as well, it keeps the story very interesting and keeps the reader in the story. These two characters have lived a roller coaster life, and struggle through things from their past, a past that they don't know connect with one another. I kept reading to see if the truth would ever be revealed and they would realize how connected they really are with one another. But NOOO T.K. Leigh leaves us with a cliffhanger! We do get a sneak peak into the next book at the end of this one, but not enough to know what is going to happen. I cannot wait for the next book in this series, I am in love with Alexander and Olivia.

Olivia has had a crazy dramatic, heartache filled past. She lost both of her parents when she was only six and then lost her uncle, the only other person she had close to her right after she graduated from college. This past has left their scars on Olivia, she does not let anyone in, except for Kiera her best friend. She does not go on dates, only casual no strings attached hook ups. She is scared to let anyone into her heart because everyone who she has let in have left her. She runs away from her emotions, literally, having moved from city to city until finally returning to Boston and working at a Wellness Center.

Then there is Mr. Alexander Burnham. He is a handsome, rich and successful business man and also known as the most eligible bachelor in Boston. But Alexander has his own scars from the past, he lives knowing that he could not save the love of his life years ago, and that she is no longer with him. Even though the event happened when they were just children, this broke his heart and he has not been able to fully heal it. Everyone tells him that it is time to move on, but deep inside he knows he can't because he has a feeling that she is still alive somewhere out there.

Both Alexander and Olivia have had a troubled past, and one day fate intervenes and their paths cross. Alexander saves Olivia from being attacked, one look into her eyes and he is sure that he has found HIS "Olibia". Slowly we see the relationship unfold, and how Olivia let's Alexander into her life, opening up more to him then she has with anyone else. The more that Alexander finds out about this Olivia, the more that the pieces connect and the more he becomes sure that this is the Olivia that he was unable to save all those years ago. Alexander is unsure of what to do, tell her what he knows, or continue this relationship that they have developing. There seems to be a reason why Olivia was taken from him, a reason for keeping her a secret all these years. Alexander is scared that revealing her identity will put Olivia in danger and have her taken from him once again. Will the truth come out? Will Olivia continue to open up to Alexander? Or will she run from her emotions once again?

The romance in this story was just so well written, how sweet Alexander is to Olivia, how much he cares and is scared to lose her. We see how vulnerable they are with one another, how their walls seem to disappear when they are together. I love the chemistry between these characters. I fell in love with their relationship. I was a little hesitant when I got this book as it's not my usual romance book, but I am glad that I gave it a chance. Wow, T.K. Leigh amazed me and I cannot wait for the next book!

"Maybe the reason I never settled down before was because, deep down. I knew you were still out there somewhere and my heart was just waiting until I found you"
